Marie Taglioni (1804-1884), Swedish/Italian prima ballerina, as she appeared at the King’s Theatre, Haymarket, London, 9 May 1833 in the title role of a new ballet Nathalie, composed by her father, Filippo Taglioni, in which Pauline Leroux, Fanny and Teresa Elsler and M. Daumont also danced.

‘Nathalie is a ballet in two acts, or rather in two scenes, composed by M. Taglioni. We cannot consider the old gentleman a genius in ballets; but this is much better than his Naïade of two years ago. It is well adapted to show off all the graces of his daughter in dancing and pantomime: it has some pretty groupings: it is simple enough to be perfectly intelligible, and absurd enough to be very amusing.’
